With both teams playing with small squads the alumni were able to hold on to an early lead to win against the current GHS players and coaches, 17-12. Special thanks to everyone who attended, including ’00 alums and more recent grads. Look for news of the next annual game next summer.

We’ve got just under two weeks till fall practices begin (August 1st). We have fields secured (Coleman Playfield) from 3-5pm everyday. Our coaches are meeting (we have 7 in the program now!). And all the paperwork has been uploaded to the site (checkout the Paperwork/Forms tab). Hope everyone is excited as GHS prepares to defend its SPS League Title.

Summer Opportunities for Frisbee
– Seattle Youth Ultimate Camps – June 18-22, June 25-29, & August 13-17 @ Magnuson. – Everyone should be attending AT LEAST one of these camps. One full week or summer devoted to playing frisbee and learning new things, heck yeah! Scholarships are available to all (NOTE – We have never denied a request for financial aid). I will be coaching for BOTH June camps.
– Youth Club Hat League – Fridays June 15-July 27 @ Magnuson, current grades 8-12. – Anyone who wants to have fun and play at least once a week should signup for this league. Registration CLOSES JUNE 15th. This should be a fun experience and I already know a few Garfield players will be there playing.
– Fryz Youth Hat Tournament (click “Current Events” on the left hand bar) – Saturday, June 23rd – Awesome chance to play some fun one-day tournament action with other kids from around Seattle. Hat tournaments are free-signups where players are randomly assigned teams the morning of the tournament. Proceeds from this tournament go to support Youth players on Fryz who are traveling to Worlds in Ireland this summer.
– Free Family Day of Play – June 17 @ Magnuson at 10am. Parents of youth players who want to give the sport a try are encouraged to do so. – Your parent’s never played but think it might be fun, well here is their chance.
– Seattle Riot Women’s Clinic – June 24 @ Magnuson, females of all ages. – EVERY GARFIELD GIRL SHOULD ATTEND THIS CLINIC!!!! Enough said.
– Washington Games – July 28-29 hat tournament open to middle school, high school, & adults, Magnuson. – A low-key recreational tournament where you can have fun and possibly win a medal! What’s not to love. Competition here may not be of a very high quality, but the weather will most certainly be nice.
– University of Puget Sound Ultimate Camp (not organized by DiscNW) – July 27-29, overnight & day camp options for ages 14-18. – This is a brand new camp run in conjunction with University of Puget Sound’s Ultimate frisbee program as they attempt to raise money for their own season. The men of this program have competed well at D3 Nationals the past 3 years and most players go on to play on very competitive club teams. This is a nice sleep-over camp option that is close to home.
– NEXT Level Camp (not organized by DiscNW) – July 21-26, overnite camp in Eugene, OR – This camp has some of the highest level talent amongst it’s coaching corps and some of the best youth players in the country have attended these camps in the past. If you can afford it I highly recommend this camp to any boy or girl in the program.
– Garfield Team Pickup Games – Summer – We will arrange pickup games beginning the week of the 25th. More info and voting for time/location will come in a later email.
– Summer Adult League – My team, Tsunami, is always open to new players practicing with us. Practices occur on Tues or Thurs night 630-830 at UW throughout June/July/August. For more information email or PM me.
